Salman Khan’s casting in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai still surprises many as why a leading actor agreed to do a supporting role. In an old interview Director of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Karan Johar revealed how Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor joined the film.
K Jo told that he and Salman Khan‘s sister Alvira were friends as they families were close friends too. When Karan was looking for an actor for the role of Aman in KKHH, he went to meet Alvira where Salman met him and enquired about his first movie that he was working on. Upon hearing that Karan was looking for someone to supporting role of Aman, Salman said he will do it and asked Karan to narrate him the story.

Salman heard the story but asked a price which was out of budget for Karan. The director then went to Saif Ali Khan and Chandrachur but both of them refused to do supporting role. Feeling low about his first film not coming together because of the casting, Karan accidentally again met Salman Khan in Chunky Pandey’s party where Salman teased Karan if he has gone ‘hero shopping’.
Dabangg actor then told Karan that he will do the movie because he likes him and his father. The actor also stated that he would accept whatever amount Karan could afford. The actor worked for 13 days on the movie and gave us an iconic supporting role which went on to win awards in best supporting role category as well.
